From the old radio amateurs
remained a "word": 70% of a successful connection depends on the
antenna!
Let's see what this means in the case of WWFF.
Most of the antennas used are dipole, EFWD, GP,
commercial antennas mounted on the car. Each of these antennas has a certain
radiation characteristic. Some where the waves are concentrated at low
radiation angles (GP, EFWD, aso) or at high radiation angles, type NVIS.
What I will present is not a scientific
dissertation, but one found from my own experience.
At one point I had a GP GPA3 antenna. The
broadcast equipment was a TR4C. I had the opportunity to mount the antenna in
two different places. First in a glade in the woods on a three-meter pillar.
The second location at ground level in the forest. If in the first location I
managed many connections, from the second location I hardly managed a few
connections, and all with weak controls.
Looking at the images posted on WWFF facebook I noticed that most of the time a positioning of the station in the shade in the area of large trees is sought and in these conditions the antenna is also surrounded by trees. Or look for a place that is
easily accessible with trying to position the antenna that has a free
radiation field around it.
Be careful when mounting the antenna so that it is
placed as far as possible so that the radio frequency does not heat trees,
branches or leaves! This would be the ideal condition. In reality it is more
difficult. If you still can't, don't blame the propagation conditions!
Especially when we work with low power and when we
need what we transmit to leave, not to remain in what surrounds us.
Images are taken from WWFF Facebook. May I have not comments from my
side!
Antenna is at ground level Antenna is in free space Where is antenna?
OK OK OK OK ? ?
Hope you will take care in next future when prepare the
antenna. Keep it in clear place!
